With the occasion of the National Day of Culture, on the 16th of January 2015, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Moldova organized an official ceremony for the laureates of the Annual Awards of the Ministry of Culture. The event was attended by the President of the Republic of Moldova Mr. Nicolae Timofti, the Minister of Culture, Ms. Monica Babuc, the deputy ministers Gheorghe Postica and Igor Sarov, the laureates and their honor guests and other cultural actors from Moldova.
The event started with the speech of the Minister of Culture, Ms. Monica Babuc, who declared: “In the Republic of Moldova, culture must become a national priority. This priority must be not only verbal but it has to be enacted in the new Law of Culture, that it is going to be approved. Following the legal determination of national culture priorities, all economic, cultural, educational, and social policies of Moldova must contain within them a cultural component. Only in this way we will survive as a nation, as a human entity". Also, the official mentioned that “Resisting to all attempts to which our people are subject, they manage to generate new and brilliant talents and this is the greatest achievement of our nation.”
The annual awards were established by the Ministry of Culture in order to mark the most representative works in literature, theater, music, choreography, cinematography, fine arts, library, restoration, preservation of cultural heritage and museology.
The winners of this year are:
1. "Valeriu Cupcea" award in theater arts – Mr. Petru Hadarca, actor, General director of the National Theatre "Mihai Eminescu".
2. "Constantin Stere" ex-equo award in literature – Mr. Eugen Cioclea, poet, and post-mortem for Mr. Eugen Lungu, writer, literary critic, editor and publisher.
3. "Gabriel Muzicescu" award in music – Ms. Valentina Nafornita, soprano, Vienna State Oprea.
4. "Mihai Grecu" award in fine arts – Mr. Dumitru Peicev, plastic artist.
5. "Emil Loteanu" award in cinema – Ms. Leontina Vatamanu, screenwriter, film director.
6. "Spiridon Mocanu" award in choreography – Mr. Iurie Bivol, first ballet master of music and folk dance ensemble "Fluieras".
7. "Stefan Ciobanu" award in the field of cultural heritage and museology – ARC Publishing Director Mr. Iuire Barsa, Mr. Tudor Constantin and Mr. Ion Ciobanu Stavila authors.
8. "Ion Madan" award in librarianship and bibliography – Ms. Claudia Balaban, Director of the National Library for Children "Ion Creanga".
9. "Isidor Burdin" award in intangible heritage – Ms. Ecaterina Popescu, artisan in Bessarabian carpet.
10. "George Cincilei" award in promoting cultural image in the media –Mr. Constantin Tanase, writer and publicist, post-mortem.
At the award ceremony performed interpreters of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet "Maria Biesu", National Philharmonic Orchestra "Sergei Lunchevici", and the jazz orchestra of the Academy of Music, Theatre and Visual Arts.
