Today, on April 4, at the National Museum of Fine Art of Moldova, took place a roundtable "Old Orhei - a heritage for valorization", event organized by the Ministry of Culture commonly with the Program for the Competitiveness of Moldova, financed by the USAID and the Government of Sweden.

 

At the event attended a lot of the representatives of diplomatic corps and international institutions accredited in the Republic of Moldova, representatives of the central and local public authorities.

 

In debates, there were approached several issues concerning the valorization of the cultural-natural Reserve "Old Orhei" such as the role of central and local authorities in heritage protection and sustainable development of the Old Orhei area, opportunities for financing sustainable development projects in the Old Orhei Reserve zone, community and tourism infrastructure development, promoting small business and social projects, organizing cultural-educational events, cultural heritage restoration and valorization, cultural-touristic heritage promotion and visitor information.

 

Minister of Culture Monica Babuc underlined the primordial importance of the cultural-natural Reserve "Old Orhei". The Official spoke about the efforts made in the last period by the Ministry of Culture to promote this heritage objective at the global level, thanking to all who contributed in this sense. Also, Monica Babuc remarked the contribution of the Moldova USAID Competitiveness Project in supporting the development of cultural-natural Reserve "Old Orhei" and its promotion as a touristic destination. According to the Official, this initiative must continue, and any proposal for the archaeological site development will mean an investment in the development of the Republic of Moldova.

 

At the event, there were presented two communications. Robert Travers, expert from Ireland, talked about new openings on the sustainable development of Old Orhei and Deputy Minister of Culture Gheorghe Postică had referred to the priorities and actual projects of the zone development, highlighting the importance of developing adequate policies and management of the Reserve, local infrastructure modernization, amelioration and diversification of the touristic products and services.

 

The development partners who were attended at the event had expressed their firm conviction that actions on the valorization of the cultural-natural Reserve "Old Orhei" must continue, this being a fact that they have showed interest and plenary support.
