On July 1, 2016, Minister of Culture Monica Babuc had a meeting with Secretary General of the International Organization La Francophonie (IOF), Michaëlle Jean. The event took place in Paris, French Republic.

 

 

During the meeting, the parties discussed about opportunities of cooperation in the culture field and possibilities of the cultural and creative potential valorization in the Francophone space.

 

 

During the discussions, Minister of Culture Monica Babuc mentioned that development of the economic dimension of the Francophonie gives to the citizens of the IOF member-states the real opportunities for sustainable economic development, offering necessary framework for promoting and supporting entrepreneurship, particularly, among young and women. Also, the official remarked that promoting creativity, supporting artistic creation in the visual arts filed and encouraging francophone cinematographic co-productions is essential to support diversity in the francophone community, a first essential step being the achievement of the students experience exchange in the arts domain, increasing number of scholarships for them etc.

 

 

At the same time, at the meeting Officials had discussed about the possibility of organizing fashion defile that will include creations of our country designers, in a program that will articulate around roundtables and workshops that will have as aim exchange of experience and transfer of expertise between fashion designers from the Republic of Moldova and partners from other francophone countries. The event is expected to be organized in autumn, at Paris by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in France, in the context of celebrating those 25th years of the independence of the Republic of Moldova.

 

 

In her turn, International Organization La Francophonie (IOF), Michaëlle Jean said that this action fits perfectly into the vision of implementing "The strategy to support entrepreneurship among young and women" of the Organization, intended to encourage the collaboration between various francophone partners from multiple member-states of the IOF. In this context, Michaëlle Jean said that the "Limited edition" Program of the IOF aims to support fashion designers by funding their training within training seminars and exchange of experience.

 

 

Moreover, we mention that during her visit to Paris, Minister of Culture Monica Babuc was present at the classical music concert, held in the IX edition of the International Tournament "Stradivarius". Monica Babuc supported our conational, the visual artist Ana Muntean, who demonstrated the art of drawing paintings in the sand, under background of the music of Bartok, Procofiev, Bach and Enescu, musical works being performed by the well-known Romanian violinist Alexandru Tomescu. The concert took place in the Byzantine Hall of the Romanian Embassy in Paris, with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute and the Bank "Societe Generale".
